Practical Tips for Beginner Sex Bloggers

So you want to become a sex blogger, eh? Well, it’s as noble a pursuit as any, that’s for certain. Just about every topic has an innumerable amount of blogs meant to discuss it, and with something like sex it was only a matter of time before bloggers started to come out of the woodwork. Of course, just like in any field, its not always about what makes a great sex blogger so much as what sex bloggers are talking about the topics a certain group of readers are looking for (a niche). Sex bloggers have their pick of kinky topics to focus on from sexual health to sexual fantasies. With so much to choose from, we know it can be overwhelming so we’ve gathered some practical tips for beginner sex bloggers to get you started.

Disclaimer: This is a post written with the lovely Angela of DoctorClimax. I have been paid to share these opinions but that has in no way affected the truthfulness and desire to help others with this information.
This blog post is written from experiences and not the ONE TRUE WAY of sex blogging. Feel free to do our own thing and seek out advice from many bloggers and writers in the field. We are all learning and growing.

Understand Your Field Of Interest

This is called finding your niche in the writing and blogging world and is probably the biggest piece of advice we could give any of you beginner sex bloggers.

Your blog should be used primarily to inform and discuss topics relating to sex, but within the topic of sex there are tons of subtopics. There’s nothing wrong with having a general sex blog that isn’t too specialized, but even then your general sex blog will naturally differ from others out there. Sex is a universal topic but how we discuss sex is unique to our personalities, culture, and our past history. This will naturally come through in our blogs and color how we discuss sex. Because of this, you will draw a certain type of reader.

You should absolutely know what those readers are thinking of and asking about when it comes to creating new content. Giving them what they’re looking for within your field of interest not only keeps writers block at bay but gets returning readers (fans) with ease.

For example: If you focus on BDSM related topics, think about what questions you had when you were starting off and then write to answer said questions from your own experiences. That last part, from your own experiences and philosophies, is the important part – its what will set your blog apart from others out there. Simply look within your focus topics and see what other semi-related content you should push out to accompany it.

A good sex blogger is much like any other good blogger, their content is well rounded and doesn’t have any major holes.

Establish Tone Very Quickly

There are a lot of different viewpoints out there towards sex. If you are going to throw yours into the ring it should be consistent. Quickly figure out how you’re going to cover sex topics and stick to that style.

This means if you start off with a clinical approach, keep it that way. The same goes for if you are going to take a more aloof or casual approach to your topics.

This way, your readers will be able to quickly understand what point of view you have and what to expect from all of your articles. While it might seem good to be all over the place to not exclude anyone, your readers will appreciate being able to go to you for content of a specific type.

Your tone should also come naturally to you. Pretending to be something or someone you are not might be fun in the bedroom but can be exhausting on the regular, even or especially online. Eventually, your persona will slip and this could leave your readers confused and feeling like their trust in your content has been broken. It’s easier and more fun to just be yourself.

The Technical Side

Choosing and buying your domain name, paying for hosting, and getting your blog set up can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, many pros out there have laid the ground work and there are tutorials all over the place.

Why not blog for free? This can be difficult for 2 reasons. Many free blog hosting platforms don’t allow for adult content. Some of the ones that do, don’t allow you to monetize that content. Even if you don’t want to monetize and are just doing this for fun, your blog is not secure – changes with the host can cause you to lose all of your content in a blink of an eye with no back up or support because there’s no money involved for them to value your hard work. If you have any inkling you might want to do more than simply keep an online diary of you kink and sex life, you will want to look into buying a domain and hosting.

To start out, choosing a website or blog name can be super fun or super daunting. Daire Faust chose her site name early on on a whim that worked out very well for her. Choose something that matches your niche and tone. Following the aforementioned BDSM example, you can choose something with a kinky phrase or bondage term in the title to make readers aware of what the site is about immediately.

Other bloggers choose to go with their pen name which can also allow them to change niches later on if they feel called to do so.

When it comes to hosting, be sure to check in with the host and respite the internet benefiting from sex and sex workers, it makes it hard for anyone affiliated with pleasure. Many hosting companies, including some of the big names with coveted discounts, do not allow adult content or their users to make money off of adult content. If you can’t find any policies regarding adult content in their Terms of Service (ToS), email the provider and double check before purchasing.

Lastly, choose a website builder that you are comfortable posting on and working with. Even if you decide to go with a website developer and designer to do the groundwork for you, you will want something you can easily post regularly on, add advertisements to, and can navigate without frustration. Again, we are blessed in that there are plenty of tutorials for nearly every platform available online today.

A final tip – hosting, domains, and other website and blogging services are often available at a fabulous discount during the holiday season, especially Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Be on the look out for what hosting and platform you want to use and see if they have any coupons, discount codes, or sales coming up before you purchase. Also check in with your favorite sex blogger friends or the people you follow to see if they can give you the hook up on a deal with what service providers they use (usually a win-win situation for everyone).

Figure Out How You Will Monetize Your Time

Some people blog entirely for the sheer thrill of it, while others prefer to at least make enough money to cover their domain and hosting fees. If you are dedicating significant amounts of time to maintaining your blog, it would be a prudent choice to figure out how to make your time pay for itself.

There are many different ways to do this even for beginner sex bloggers, whether it be through affiliate marketing, sidebar ads, or allowing for sponsored content to be posted on your site. It doesn’t matter which one you pick or even if you engage in all of them, but you should be cognizant of how you intend to turn your blog into a source of income if that is an eventual goal of yours.

Doctor Climax logo - nurse holding a dildo

Angela Watson who blogs alongside her husband over at DoctorClimax.com focuses on affiliate marketing. “The best way we’ve found to monetize our sex blog has been signing-up for various sex toy affiliate programs. These affiliate programs offer anywhere between 4%-30%+ for referring sales. This way, whenever you mention a product on your website, you can link to the product via an affiliate tracking link. If someone ends up purchasing the toy, you will be compensated for referring that user. This has been the best way we’ve found to monetize our traffic. We get paid for recommending products that we’d recommend regardless of whether we were compensated.”

Daire also uses affiliate marketing but makes the bulk of her income through freelance writing. “My website/blog allows for companies I want to write for to see my work in action. It also is a hub for my readers to see what information I’m sharing across social media and other platforms – a source of advertisement for those other sites. It helps sell my service as a writer and so I’m paid not only for my experience, my work writing, but also for access to you, my fabulous readers.”

As with any content, look at your niche. If you are a creative type, consider writing erotic fiction and selling it on your site. If you are into it and discuss porn on your site, consider making some of your own.

Other methods of monetization include creating a Patreon or membership site for exclusive content and bundling blog content, editing it, and create an ebook for sale.

Have A Plan To Expand

When you first start blogging it can be pretty intimidating. You have this empty website just begging to be populated with quality content, but you’ve barely just finished your about page.

Over time, you’ll start having distinct categories within your site and lots going on to keep people entertained. Of course, there’s always more work to be done in the world of online blogging.

You should have a plan to expand your social media presence, work with other websites, and in general increase your online reputation. As you show up on more and more websites providing valuable content, things like links to your website will begin flowing in like crazy which will only help bring more people to your blog at the end of the day.

To help you prepare for this, consider the following:

  • Track your traffic through Google Analytics
  • Budget for getting the next tier of hosting in case you write a viral blog post that suddenly floods your site and, heaven forbid, crashes it.
  • Back up your content regularly…in case of crash
  • Keep your internet hygiene and safety in mine – this means making sure your website is secure, there’s no spam making its way into your comments, your content is up to date, and your links are updated (not broken).
  • Network – be kind to fellow bloggers whether they are experts with years of experience or beginner sex bloggers like you. Comment on their blog posts (hint, hint), and learn from their experiences.
  • Keep an open mind about content and monetization – some of the best opportunities are the ones that come out of left field so keep checking your emails and comments out.
  • Invest in learning opportunities, experiences, and website/content developement when you can.
  • Remember that you are always learning – once you have content consistency, unique voice, and an idea for monetization, start looking into topics like SEO, collaborations, etc.
Beginner Sex Blogger

In Conclusion

To be frank, being a sex blogger isn’t necessarily all that different from being any other kind of blogger. Its a lot of fun – its about sex, its supposed to be fun! Just remember to be consistent in releasing content and to be yourself when writing it.

Best of luck to you if you do decide to take the plunge and create your very own sex blog!

Fantasticocks Tentacle Dildo Review – a BuyMeAnOrgasm Patron Gift

Tentacles are one of my favorite things! Nothing new to long time viewers, I know. So when I was gifted a BuyMeAnOrgasm Patron Gift from the lovely @np1-b, I was so excited to grab a tentacle from Fantasticocks. I hope you enjoy this rave Fantasticocks Tentacle Dildo Review!

Fantasticocks Tentacle Dildos

Fantasticocks is an adult fantasy toy company run by “two self-proclaimed geeks who love conventions, cons and everything in between.” I have been looking forward to trying out one of their toys for a long time now.

They make 2 different tentacle dildos – Clithulu and the smaller Thoa, son of Clithulu. Both are handmade with “Platinum silicone, Silicone Pigments, FDA Approved Cosmetic Mica Powders.” They are also both available in a variety of custom colors varying from shimmering to sparkling to fluorescent to bolds.

I opted for Thoa in a marble combination of pastel pink and shimmery rose gold. Fantasticocks was sweet enough to Tweet me that they loved my color combination choice!

Thoa, Son of Clithulu is the tentacle toy of your dreams. Rising from the deep, Thoa comes a more managable size but still have 18 delicate suckers down its front. A gentle curve means Thoa will be sure to reach your most sensitive areas.

Approximate Measurements:
Usable Length: 6″
Total Length: 6.75″
Base Diameter: 3×2″
Girth at Usable Length Base: 5.5″, 2″ at tip, 4″ mid shaft
Weight: 7 oz

Experiencing the Son of Clithulu

The medium soft texture of Thoa is glorious! I could have just played with it in my hands as a stress-ball like toy for forever. This would definitely make for a fun handjob/footjob visual stimulation to play with for others.

Applying lube to the tentacle dildo is the best. It squelches along the sucker-cup texture and curves, squishing along as I squeeze the soft silicone.

Mr. Faust was just as excited to get this toy in the mail as I was (he asked me several times that day if it had arrived yet). He had me lay back at an angle that prevented me from seeing what he was doing.

I definitely could easily feel Thoa’s texture internally. It not only is a great g-spot stimulator but is delicious feeling when squishing along my labia and clit. I could do that all day – just slick and squishy grinding along those bumps – mmmmmm.

This toy was not as girthy as my others but that had the added benefit of being a great dildo for vaginal DP. Mr. Faust could stretch me with it and his fingers before easing himself in with Thoa.

Tentacle Care and Maintenance

The tentacle has lots of grooves and crevices, which make for fun play but demand some attention afterwards.

Post-play cleaning, if I want to get back to playing soon (like we need to take a break or perhaps want to switch to a different partner) I use a toy cleaner and cloth or a cleaning wipe. For deeper cleaning, use a dab of unscented dish soap and warm water. Make sure you clean all the grooves. You can also toss in the dishwasher if you aren’t worried about offending someone looking for their coffee mug later.

If you use this toy anally, I recommend a condom. Those are a lot of grooves to clean after anal use.

Thoa is my new Tentacled BFF

I highly recommend Thoa if you are looking for some fun, squishy, pleasure! I’m keeping him nearby bedside for continual use.

#FatSmutFriday Fat Vampires

Happy #FatSmutFriday! Today we’re talking vampires. These immortal/undead creatures have been villains and sex symbols for years and yet we see so few fat ones. So I’m dedicating this Halloween-season’s Fat Smut Friday to Fat Vampires.

I admit now that I did not come up with this idea on my own. I was perusing Twitter and saw someone ask where all the fat vamps are (see my quote response here).
This opened a can of worms, of course. We can’t possibly portray more fat people in media for REASONS says the comments section. The reasons for skinny vampires were laughable. Included in the excuses were biology, the low calorie content of blood, and historical wasting sickness as well as the general fat hate.
The OP pointed out several times – even if biology and fat-free blood were a factor, what about fat people that were turned into vampires. Surely it would take time for them to lose weight due to the change in their diet unless we’re talking sparkling, magical vampires whose bites make you immediately the public’s view of pretty. This never really got answered.

Fact is, vampires are fictional unless we’re talking about the vampyre subculture in which case – there are plenty of fat vampyres in the world (I’ve met a few myself – wanna learn more, check out this book and this book).
Being fictional, creators can make vampires look however the fuck they want – including fat.

I did some searching – came across quite a bit of fat hate so be careful – and found this was not an uncommon question. Fat vampires turns out to be a niche that isn’t being met in movies, books, or other media.
While there are stories that meet the criteria out there, they haven’t reached the popularity their counterparts with skinny vamps are. The best way to help with that is to read/watch/buy what is out there AND create more.

I am grateful that there are creators out there writing, filming, and drawing fat vampires. For that reason, I did a shout out and compiled a list. Granted not all of the vampires listed are particularly sexy or nice but they are fat and immortal/undead, which was the only two criteria.

Fat Vampires

Pearl – Blade 1998
By far the most popular fat vampire out there is Pearl. This character is problematic but I wanted to get him out of the way. This supporting antagonist is a vampire archivist and it is never clarified if he is a pure blood or human that was turned into a vampire. Fans speculate he not only is a pure blood but is an ancient – explaining his knowledge of the language used in the film. If this is the case, it certainly knocks out the theory that vampires can’t get fat on blood.
The director of the film was apparently questioned about Pearl’s size and explained “the cause of Pearl’s obese size was the creature gaining a cannibalistic lust for infants and children as he loves to eat their hearts.” I’d like to add here that heart is a lean meat, just for context.
NOTE: Pearl is a classic case of a villain’s weight being part of their outward example of villainy and cowardice – not a cliche I’d like to see in future vampire stories with fat characters.

Morgan Kendrick by Jess
Jess’ whole brand is sexy fat vampire and I ADORE her for it! Seriously…dayum.
Her character Morgan is no different. Such yummy artwork and I can’t wait to see more of her!
Check out her art twitter for more! @JKCanaan

Josephine Berendt of Black, Red, and Gold by Catherine Winters
When I did my Fat Vamps shoutout on twitther, Catherine was more than happy to lend a hand –
“I have a vampire trilogy featuring a fat main character who becomes a vampire. http://writingwinters.com/books will get you all the volumes, plus a prequel!”
Black, Red, and Gold promise to be bloody sexy page turners!
Amid worry for Max Spencer, fighting her love for Grant Black, and the pomp and circumstance of an Imperial covenmistress ceremony, Josephine has to unravel the opposition’s plans and keep her coven safe — all while watching her own back and working to discover the limits of her power.
YUM!

Reginald Baskin – Fat Vampire series by Johnny B. Truant
I haven’t read it so I can’t give an opinion. Does not contain any content warnings that I’ve found but the blurb says that Reginald is often mocked. It does not seem to be “own voices.” I recommend reading the reviews before buying.
…as Reginald struggles with the downsides of being a fat vampire (too slow to catch people to feed on, mocked by those he tries to glamour, assaulted by his intended prey and left for undead), he discovers rare powers in himself that few vampires have … and just in time, because the Vampire Council wants him destroyed as an inferior representative of their race.
Perfect for fans of Rick Gualtieri’s Tome of Bill series or Drew Hayes’ Fred the Vampire Accountant series, Fat Vampire is the story of an unlikely hero who, after having an imperfect eternity shoved into his grease-stained hands, must learn to turn the afterlife’s lemons into tasty lemon danishes.

Doug Lee – Fat Vampire by Adam Rex
I haven’t read it so I can’t give an opinion. I recommend reading the reviews before buying.
From School Library Journal
Grade 10 Up Unlike most vampires who are drop-dead gorgeous, sexy, and irresistible, Doug is the exact opposite. Overweight, unpopular, and dorky, he seals his fate by being in the wrong place at the wrong time and as a result was attacked by a starving, newly made vampire. Now he must spend the rest of his immortal life as an unattractive 15-year-old, feeding off cows to satisfy his need for blood. With the support of some local vampire guardians and his friend Jay, the teen must now learn how to live life as a vampire. If events aren’t complicated enough, he falls for the new girl at school, and has the star of the TV show Vampire Hunters hot on his trail, trying to expose him to the world. Rex’s story falls flat. The back-and-forth narration between Doug and Sejal is confusing and slows down the plot. There are some promising moments, funny scenes, and intriguing themes that unfortunately just don’t pan out.

Support Fat Vampire Creators

When I did a shout out on Twitter asking for fat vampire rep, I did get a few creators who haven’t published or released their vamp babies yet.

Casual Monsters by Ami Mercury

Ami Mercury @amimercury has an awesome comic in the works called Casual Monsters.
“My main character is Audrey. She’s a graphic designer who just broke up with her boyfriend and decided to take a weekend vacation in the mountains to collect her thoughts. Just outside of town her car breaks down, and she has no cell service. Luckily there’s an all-night garage just up ahead. This is where she meets the garage owner, Rob, our unlikely vampire character. He fixes her car and the two become friends. Through a series of plot points eventually she figures out that he’s a vampire. Now, for vampires in this setting, animal blood makes up the majority of their diet, but it’s encouraged that they get a human donor. A person who consents to letting their vampire friend drink their blood on occasion. Rob needs a donor, and Audrey needs a new place to live after breaking things off with her boyfriend. Rob offers her the spare apartment on his property in exchange for being his donor. From there romantic-comedy sitcom shenanigans ensue.
But basically in my story, I treat vampirism as more like a “condition.” Yeah they’re still immortal, and they’re still dead, or “undead” as it were; but the shape-shifting and mind control, etc is not inherent to being a vampire. They are sensitive to sunlight, but they won’t immediately burst into flames/dust. They’ll just get really bad sunburns. They do require blood to “live,” but that doesn’t mean they can’t eat other foods. I actually plan on having other creatures in this story, as well: werewolves, sasquatch, mummies, etc. Much like the vampires their existence is more like a condition than anything supernatural. Honestly they kind of live normal lives, otherwise, and mostly go completely unnoticed by humans.”
YALL! I’m really damn excited about this one – you bet your cute asses I’ll be reading this comic and reviewing with pleasure!

Bodie @geroakoya says he is working on some fat vamp erotica that he is now inspired to get back to:
“I started writing an erotic short story about a fat vampire once! I never did anything with it but every so often I get really excited about the possibility of picking it back up again.
The fat vampire’s name was Chauncy Lockhart, which is maybe my favorite name of any character I’ve ever written”

Ink York @inkayork author of soft supernatural being has some fat vampires about ready for our hot lil hands!
“I have a fat girl vampire MC in my novella, Lotus (with my editor rn) & a fat girl vampire MC in my WIP, No Good Comes.”

Call for Fat Vampires

As I said, this is certainly a niche that could use some more reps. I would love to see and read more fat vamp characters. Some other requests that I saw and definitely agree with:

  • Fat Polyamorous Vamps
  • Fat Vampires of Color
  • Fat LGBTQ+ Vampires especially NonBinary, Trans, etc.

Do You Have a Fat Vampire Character?

Comment below your character or your favorite that isn’t listed. Not only do I want to see them but I’ll list them on twitter with some shout outs so definitely share links.

Make Me a Superhero: Kinkly Top Sex Blog Voting

When I started SmutGeek in 2018, it was during Top Sex Blog voting season. Kinkly was in the process of announcing their Sex Blog Superheros – those top 100 popular blogs readers nominated and voted for with love. I read the list with heart eyes. Now is my chance to try for it. Please click here for the Top Sex Blog Voting opportunity.

Top Sex Blog Voting - kinkly sex blog super heroes call to vote please click to vote for me

What is a Top Sex Blogger List?

Its a listing of blogs that are sex positive nominated and voted on by fans. These blogs are then evaluated based on the Kinkly criteria of writing quality, frequency of posts, sex and body positivity, over all design, active social media, overall impression, and number of votes.
I need at least 5 votes to be considered. If each person that has seen my blog this month votes that would be well over 200 people rooting for me. If each person that follows me on Twitter votes, that would be over 1700 fans cheering me on!

What does it mean to make it on the top 100 list and when will they announce the winners?
“On November 4th, we’ll announce the Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes of 2019. We’ll also break out and crown a few winners in key categories – and hand out some prizes from the Kinkly Shop. We can’t wait!”

Kinkly explains how their bloggers are listed, and that they are going with an unranked list for fairness, which I think is cool.

Why Do These Top Sex Blog Lists Matter?

Remember that its not a perfect system. No matter the results of the final list, whether I make it in the top 100 or not, its not a direct representation of how good my site is.

Kayla Lords shared on Smutlancer “If you’re a sex blogger hoping to one day make at least enough money to pay your hosting fees, you should be asking – do these things matter?” She went on to explain:

Its validation of the hard work we writers do. Its a chance to feel supported in your hobby/biz choice and see enthusiasm for the work you do.

More views of my site equals more chances for the work I love doing. Bloggers on the list are more likely for companies to email them and say “We saw you made the list – congratulations! Would you like to work with us?” This is the dream, y’all.

It only takes a second to click the link, tap the button, and, if you want emails on the results, type in your email address. Thank you!

Package Preparations

This is the beginning of the next installation of the Nerdy, Dirty, and Curvy series I’ve been working on. Originally published this glimpse during Smutathon. Despite the dubious ending here, the longer short story had definite happily ever after vibes.

Elodie opened her toy chest and looked over her options. If she was doing a video she would have chosen a newer, showier piece – a huge tentacle dildo or a lightsaber vibrator. But it was just her tonight and the point was to get off not show off. She pushed a few brightly colored items aside and reached for her favorite vibrator. It was one of the first she ever bought but still going strong – a pink, silicone tongue shape about the length of her hand.
Pulling off her shorts, she went to the dresser where she laid out the panties she needed to wear. They were simple white bikini cut with a tiny satin bow in the front. She’d bought them as part of a pack and took pictures for her site but that was the only time she’d worn them. A client was requesting them now, well used.
Taking off the rest of her clothes, she pulled the panties on and plopped onto her bed. It squeaked a little under her – the benefit or take away of having an old fashioned brass bed, depending on how you looked at it. Her cam clients loved the bed. It had a blend of nostalgia and added audio sensory to her porn. Each squeak let them know of her thrusts and movements.
Sprawling out comfortably, she pushed the single button on her vibrator twice to put it on the medium speed setting. Bringing it between her legs, she teased her pussy lips through the crotch of her white panties. It didn’t take long to tease her clit and labia into tingling attention.

Closing her eyes, Elodie brought up an old memory. It was from years ago, but the first time she fooled around with a girl was still a memory that got her off even now.
Circling, her clit with the vibe she let herself relax into it.

It was the year before she started college. Newly adults, she and her best friend were doing the things they enjoyed most – gaming, watching anime, and chilling out in Vanna’s basement. Vanna was butch, nerdy, and adorable in a way that sadly few people seemed to noticed. Few people other than Elodie, that is.
Vanna was playing a video game, a new one that she was eager to beat but years later Elodie would forget the name of. Elodie was sprawled on the old sofa, drinking Mountain Dew and watching her friend. Both were avoiding the conversation that was on their minds – soon they would be splitting up. Vanna was accepted into MIT and Elodie was going to Berkley. A nation between them after years of being practically inseparable.

Sliding off the couch, Elodie joined Vanna in the floor, sitting close enough their knees and elbows touched. “Anything you wanna do before you leave for school?”
Vanna pushed her glasses up and ran a hand through her chin-length hair that always looked like it needed brushed. “I dunno. Might hit Jay’s shop a last time and give him shit for not letting me see his Suspense Comics number 3 he claims he has but everyone knows he doesn’t.”
Biting her lip, Elodie leaned in so their shoulders touched.
“Why, what about you?” Vanna asked, glancing at her with a raised brow.

If it had gone down years later, when Elodie was more immersed in consent culture as a sex worker, she would have asked first. As it was, she was too scared to think twice when she kissed her best friend.
Vanna’s lips were chapped and she tasted like orange soda. These were the things Elodie remembered vividly as she stroked her vibrator against her dampening panties.
At first, Vanna sat their stunned. When Elodie pulled back, barely an inch, they stared at each other and Vanna’s glasses fogged slightly with their breath.
Before Elodie could apologize for her impulsiveness, Vanna leaned in and did the unthinkable – she kissed Elodie back.

The first kisses were hesitant and exploratory. It wasn’t Elodie’s first kiss. That had been Tommy Kemp behind the bleachers in junior high. Tommy’s kiss was open mouth and slobbery. Vanna’s was softer than that.
When Elodie opened her mouth, Vanna responded with nipping her bottom lip. She pulled back and looked Elodie’s face over as to make sure the tiny bite was ok before leaning in to kiss her again. Slowly, Vanna reached up to cradle Elodie’s face in her hand, rubbing her jaw with the pad of her thumb.
Taking a silent queue, Elodie raised her hands to Vanna’s shoulders and neck. She could feel her friend’s pulse in her neck, thrumming harder and faster than the video game sound effects in the background.
Out of breath, Elodie pulled back and smiled.

“How long?” Vanna asked, her voice raspy as she pushed her glasses up from where they’d slid down her nose.
Shrugging, Elodie couldn’t recall a specific time that she knew she wanted her best friend. “Always maybe? Definitely at my sixteenth birthday party.”
Vanna blushed and looked down at her lap.
No one else had showed up to Elodie’s sweet sixteen because that bitch Brittany Marsh told the class Elodie was a slut. Vanna came though. She insisted Elodie have the best night and said they could do whatever she wanted. They ended up sneaking out of Elodie’s house and went skinny dipping in the neighbor’s pool. Vanna had been too shy to take off her underwear but Elodie remembered well how her friend had looked in the dim light from the nearby street lamps.

“You?” Elodie asked, feeling her nervousness return.
Vanna had shrugged and laughed hoarsely. “Always. Since we were kids.” She had looked so small and vulnerable then. She opened her mouth a few times as if to tell Elodie something else but ended up only shaking her head.
Unwilling to let this go, Elodie leaned in and kissed Vanna’s lips softly. She feathered kisses along Vanna’s jaw to her earlobe. Teasing Vanna’s ear with her teeth, she moved her mouth down along her friend’s neck, making Vanna shiver.
“Elodie,” Vanna had whispered and the memory of her name said so softly with need made Elodie buck her hips towards her vibrator and moan.
Vanna’s hands came up and Elodie half expected her friend to push her away. Instead, they ran over her back, up to her shoulders and down along her collar bone.

“I…can I touch you?”
Sitting up, Elodie had been surprised by the request but definitely not opposed. She smiled and, as she nodded her consent, she grabbed the bottom of her t-shirt and pulled it quickly up over her head. Shaking out her dark curls, she looked at Vanna questioningly.
Vanna only stared at her a moment. Her eyes went down to Elodie’s breasts cupped in her plain white bra. It would be another year before Elodie discovered the fun of lingerie and cute underwear but Vanna didn’t seem to mind the plainness when she raised her fingers up to the edge of the cup.
Raising her hand, Elodie caressed her tits as she recalled how Vanna had touched her – first through the barely padded bra then pulled it down to cup her fully and run her thumbs over her nipples.

“Do you wanna see more?” Elodie asked when she decided to discard her bra.
Wide eyed, Vanna nodded. Elodie stood up and pulled off her jeans and socks then her panties. She remembered already being wet, wetter than she was now, teasing her pussy on her bed. She didn’t shave or wax then but, again, Vanna didn’t seem to mind.
Sitting back down, Elodie leaned in and kissed Vanna again. Their kisses were harder this time, needy. Vanna played with her breasts and, tentatively, Elodie took one hand and brought it down to her inner thigh. Taking the lead from there, Vanna reached between her legs and stroked Elodie’s wet pussy. Like their first kisses, the touch was a gentle exploration of labia and clit. Slowly, she slipped two fingers into Elodie and made her gasp.
“Did I hurt you?” Vanna asked, pulling her fingers out.
Shaking her head, Elodie pushed Vanna’s hand back. “No. It feels good.” It had felt so much better than when Elodie masturbated. She hadn’t expected that.
Vanna’s hands weren’t skilled like Elodie’s later lovers. She didn’t know how to find Elodie’s g-spot or stroke her until she came. But those tentative touches were enough to make Elodie soak her panties with an orgasm years later.
Shaking and arching against her vibrator, Elodie moaned her former friend’s name. The crotch of her panties soaked with cum, making the tip of her vibrator wet as well.

As she came down from her orgasm, Elodie pushed the vibe’s button until it switched off. It was then, in the shaky aftermath, that the rest of the memory came to her.
“Can I?” Elodie had asked, wanting to do the same to Vanna. She pulled at Vanna’s t-shirt, wanting to see her naked too.
Vanna pulled her hands back and looked away as if ashamed. She hesitated and shook her head finally. “I don’t think I can get naked in front of you.”
Elodie hadn’t understood. Suddenly aware and embarrassed of her nakedness, she crossed her arms and covered herself. It made no sense to her. Vanna was skinnier and cute as hell even with the tomboy clothes, bad haircut, and thick glasses.
Before Vanna could find a way to speak up, Elodie pulled her clothes on. She made some excuse, something about needing to meet up with her mom.

Package Preparations - a mailbox with side of a house lawn and driveway in backgroun

Thinking back, she wished she’d tried to make Vanna explain. Why had they kissed? Why had Vanna touched her if she didn’t want her? It was one of only a handful of regrets Elodie had. Like student loans, however, there was nothing she could do about it now.
Sliding her sticky panties off, Elodie slid her fingers over her bare, wet cunt with a sigh. It was just a memory.
Tossing the panties into a pink gift bag, she added a business card with her site info, some logo stickers, and a handwritten note thanking her client for buying and wishing him wet daydreams. This she put into a plain brown box with the discreet return address: ELLO.
Pulling in her ragged shorts and an of t-shirt, she put the small package in her mailbox, lifted the flag and smiled at her morning’s work completed.

Easily Orgasmic

Easily orgasmic. I used to think there was something wrong with me. (I originally wrote this on Smutathon 2019 blog. Check it out for more kinky writing and a chance to support a great charity.)

I saw articles, blogs, whole books dedicated to the well known fact that a vaginal orgasm was elusive and damn near impossible. I heard stories of women faking them because they couldn’t have one. I met fundamentalist Christians who said they were even and therefore it was good that they were rare.

And yet…a strong breeze in the right skirt could damn near have me trembling. I could just day dream about a delicious sex scene and cream my panties.
I went through my teens and early adulthood thinking I had never had an orgasm. I couldn’t have. They were too difficult to obtain so whatever I was feeling when I masturbated or fooled around with a partner could not possibly be me cumming…right?

What Did My Partners Think?

I talked to my boyfriend (who would later become my husband) as we cleaned up from mutually masturbating in his truck. I told him that I worried about how easy it was for me to cum. My words were mumbly because I didn’t want him to feel bad. Making a girl orgasm was supposed to be a badge of honor for a guy, right? He shrugged and said that he didn’t think it really matter. “What’s important is that you feel good, right?”

He was right but I still wasn’t sure what was going on.
It wasn’t until I met one of my girlfriends who was a sex worker and piercing artist. She knew a lot about anatomy and was more than happy to chat about my vagina after having some kinky sex. I explained my concerns and was glad she didn’t laugh at me. She was the opposite. It was very difficult for her to have a vaginal orgasm but easy to have an orgasm in other ways. Laying it out, she assured me that I needed to think of it all from the perspective that we are all different. What gets us off, how, and how we feel about it will be different from person to person.

She was also one of the first people I met that understood that an orgasm isn’t necessarily the end all be all of sex. In fact, she was one of only three lovers I’ve ever had that understood that just because I have an orgasm doesn’t mean that sex was fulfilling.

Easily Orgasmic =/= Fulfilling Sex

Thats right.
Just because I have an orgasm DOES NOT mean that sex was fulfilling.

I explain it this way. I can cum on my own. Being with a partner, for me, is way more than getting off. Its connection, play, and kink. Even if the sex is casual, it still meets those needs I have beyond climax.
Once I understood this, that sex was more than orgasm, I not only was able to voice my needs better and have better sex, I was also better able to listen to and seek out the needs of my sexual partners.

Orgasms and Toy Reviews

Another issues that has come up for me and my quick and easy orgasms was reviewing sex toys. When I first started reviewing adult products I read other reviewers to get an idea of what I needed to write.

Thing is, so many reviewers talked about whether the toy was able to get them off. Well damn, if I so much as touched my clit with a vibrator I was soaked. How was I supposed to review toys when they all got me off? What was the standard.

Thinking back to my former girlfriend and her advice, I looked at toys from the perspective of what could different people with different sexual needs get out of this? It made me think harder about how toys were made, ways to use them, what made them tick, and materials used. In the end, my reviewers were better for it.

Easily Orgasmic and Going Forward

I wish someone had told me about sex, orgasms, and other needs being met sooner but, it is what it is. I’m glad I know now and am able to pass it on to others who might need to know.

Smutathon 2019: 12 Hours of Erotica

How much erotic writing could you get done in 12 hours? I’ll be answering this question on Saturday, September 28th, during Smutathon 2019!

Smut for a Cause

Smutathon 2019 - National Network of Abortion Funds logo

The 3rd annual Smutathon will be raising money for the National Network of Abortion Funds. This charity not only funds abortions but also in helps reduce all barriers to accessing abortions (travel, childcare, etc).

One thing I really love about this charity is its focus on intersectionality (so many abortion and reproductive rights organizations focus on women). “A comprehensive vision of justice for our communities must involve working towards economic, racial, gender, and reproductive justice.” – From their website.

Join Us!

Consider donating to the NNAF to help provide needed reproductive health care. Smutathon has an ambitious $5k target. To donate you can choose an amount or type in a custom one.
NNAF is offering a transparent report on where their funds go, btw. “A copy of our latest financial report may be obtained by emailing info@actblue.com or calling (617) 517-7600.” This is great if, like me, you’re anxious about donating to a larger charity organization.

Check out their Get Involved page to find ways to join in by writing for Smutathon 2019 locally (Montreal, CA) or remotely like me.

I’m Nervous, in a good way

If you recall, I tried writing in a smut marathon this year but fell off that goal when life got in the way. Since this event is 1 day only (12 hours actually) I’m feeling more comfortable it.

My hope is I can wrap up some kinky stories I’ve had on the back burner and get them out into your hot little hands soon. I’m talking polyamorous steampunks, geeky billionaire kinksters, and lesbian gamer girls!

Wish me luck, join in the fun, and send motivation cheerleading here in the comments or on twitter!

Sex After Marriage and Kids

I recently celebrated my 9th anniversary! Ironically, after a day of intimacy and night of intense sex, I saw not one but two loud posts on social media expressing some negative opinions about sex after marriage and kids. While I could just laugh it off and move on, I wanted to express my own thoughts on the matter, from experience.

In 2010, I was 21 years old and newly married. Since losing my virginity 2 years prior, I was still learning about my own sexuality. In mainstream media (and apparently social media) this would have been the coffin nail in my sex life (unless I decided to divorce later or have a torrid affair). SorryNotSorry to disappoint.

In the last 9 years I have crossed quite a lot off my sexual bucket list. I have had threesomes, sex in semi-public, been whipped and whipped others, been fisted, had 5 girlfriends, and more orgasms than I can count. Oh, and I’m not done yet.

But What About the Children!

One of the tweets I saw post anniversary shenanigans was someone sharing that a friend of hers was “concerned” about her kids because she had a wild sex life. Y’all, the kids in question here sleep in their own rooms and the couple having wild sex are not pedophiles nor or are they exhibiting their sex lives in full view of their children.

I have a child. In fact, I’m a stay-at-home-mom and house wife. My husband and I keep our sex confined either to kiddo’s sleeping hours or when he is being cared for by another trusted adult. Our sex life has merely moved to a different schedule but is no less intense or exciting.

In fact, I think its good for our kid to see that his parents are intimate in non sexual ways. Damon snuggles me openly and often, we kiss frequently, hold hands, etc. I thank our healthy and active sex life for this in part.

Aren’t You a Lil Old to Be Fucking Like Rabbits?

I think a lot of the “marriage kills sex” cliches out there are paired with the concept that marriage, especially between cis-gendered people of the opposite sex, is for old people or makes them old. I’m 30 and I don’t care to tell people that. Damon is a few years older than me. Ironically, we both frequently experience people thinking we are younger than that.

Sure, we have to navigate our sex lives around not only schedules but my bad hip and his shot knees but neither of these issues pertains to our age. Lots of people over the age of twenty have wild sex and health and schedules are not only things older people have to think about.

We Are Not Alone

Not only were several married friends rolling their eyes at the tweets about lack of sex after marriage and kids, but most of the kinkiest people I’ve ever met in my life have been older, married parents.

The first polyamorous people I ever met were an older married couple that Damon used to play with. My ex-girlfriend’s mom was a successful dominatrix. My brother-in-law’s mom is a pro Domme and has been his whole life (while also balancing that with being a stay-at-home-mom). Lots of cam girls and sex workers I know have a kid or two.

My point – getting married and having kids does not mean you are no longer sexually active or kinky!

Tell Me More!

I would LOVE to see more articles, stories, erotica, romances focusing on married people and parents. Comment below if you have an erotic story or article that focuses on these groups. Sex after marriage and kids doesn’t have to be boring or nonexistent, loves!

Ice Cream Lover Review

I grabbed Ice Cream Lover on a whim after seeing its release posts on twitter. It looked cute and I’m a fan of ice cream and erotica so, why not? I am so glad I did! Ice Cream Lover Review - book cover featuring male east-Asian model with shirt open and muscular chest and abs.

Book Summary

I hate ice cream. Ever since my fiancée left me at the altar and skewered me in her bestseller “Embrace Your Inner Ice Cream Sandwich: Finding the Positive You in a World of Negativity,” I haven’t been able to stomach the stuff.
Unfortunately, my five-year-old niece is a budding foodie and her favorite place in the world is Ginger Scoops, a cutesy Asian ice cream shop. Since I’ve been looking after my niece a lot lately, I’ve spent too much time there, sipping black coffee, refusing to eat ice cream, and trying not to look at the owner, Chloe Jenkins. Chloe is obnoxiously cheerful, and I can’t stand her.
Naturally, I end up kissing her.
But I’ve sworn off women after the fiasco with my ex-fiancée, and I’m convinced I’m no good at relationships. Still, with Chloe I’m tempted to do the impossible: give love and ice cream another chance…

Ice Cream Lover is the second (stand alone) romance novel in the Baldwin Village book series by Jackie Lau. It is sweet and erotic contemporary romance with a good dose of comedy. The main characters include grumpy cinnamon roll Drew (the narrator of the book’s teaser) and bisexual Chloe who struggles with being mixed race.

The Author

Jackie Lau decided she wanted to be a writer when she was in grade two, sometime between writing “The Heart That Got Lost” and “The Land of Shapes.” She later studied engineering and worked as a geophysicist before turning to writing romance novels. Jackie lives in Toronto with her husband, and despite living in Canada her whole life, she hates winter. When she’s not writing, she enjoys gelato, gourmet donuts, cooking, hiking, and reading on the balcony when it’s raining.

I love that Jackie is an own-voices author and you can really feel her love for her books and characters when you read her Tweets and in her books.

Why I Love This Book

While I love quirky, foodie, erotic romance, I have to admit the thing that made me fall in love with this book is the main character Chloe hooking up with Drew.
As a bisexual cis-gendered woman married to a cis-gendered man, I struggle with my sexual identity. Seeing a character that is bi and enters a committed relationship with someone of the opposite sex, it was heartwarming.
So often bi women in erotica who “become lesbians” or who fool around before going back to their hetero partners and read as non-committal or riding a fence.
It was just really nice to see someone who is somewhat like me. That Chloe’s choosing to enter into this relationship with Drew does not make her less of a bisexual or turn her heterosexual.

Foodie romances are awesome. I love the cozy conversations about flavors of ice cream, meals and desserts shared, and how the whole story revolves around sharing and conversation. It was so relaxing to read and, I admit, it made me grab ice cream and check out some new flavors (and crave some old favorites).

[Ice Cream Lover Review Spoiler alert] I also really liked Drew’s background issues. I have once been that self-help reader who poured over books/movies like Eat, Pray, Love or Under the Tuscan Sun.
Reading Ice Cream Lover and watching the way Drew struggled with being “that guy” who’s failed relationship was smeared all over a book and mainstream media – who was written as a horrible person rather than someone entirely human with good qualities as well as flaws – I thought back to some of the books I’ve read.
Those men talked about in self help books and biographies/memoirs – they were human. We only get to hear one side of their story. Looking back at my own failed relationships I’d certainly hate it if that was poured out on the best seller list and I was made to be some monsterous ex.
It was a very unique take on a character and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

What I Didn’t Love About the Book

It made me spend too much on ice cream…worth it. But no, seriously, if you’re gonna read this book, have a favorite on hand.

How I Read the Tarot for Online Clients

How do I read the In-Depth Tarot Readings that Clients Order?

In-depth Tarot Readings are one of my favorite ways to connect with clients. The readings are intimate, juicy, and always educational. I take these readings very seriously and dedicate quite a bit of time and attention to ensuring that when you receive your reading it is not only clear and full of advice but that it touches the core of your inquiry.
For me, it’s super important that each and every client I work with has a great experience. So that’s why I have created a list of literally ALL the steps I go through with each and every client- from the second they book me to the very last e-mail after the reading and beyond.

When You Place an Order

I receive a request for a reading
Check Paypal to see that they did indeed pay.
*If they did not, respond to the request with explanation of how the tarot reading works and the payment process via Paypal.
Payment received
Check the email to make sure I have a clear idea of what the tarot reading will be focused on (what is their question or what area of their life do they want to focus on).
*If there is no question or the question is unclear, respond asking for clarification or focus.
Question/Focus of the Reading is Clear
Respond to the request, letting them know you received their order and will have their reading to them within the next 3 days.

As soon as I have uninterrupted time to do the reading, I start collecting the tools I need. The tools include a variety of items including:

  • Tarot deck
  • reading cloth
  • pendulum and/or oracle deck (used for clarification)
  • candle/incense with holder and matches (I usually make my own candles and incense blends for this purpose)
  • crystals to help with focus and connection
  • Notebook and pen
  • a glass of water or cup of tea

The deck is selected by intuition or relation to the querent’s reading focus. For example: I’ll use XIII for clients that are into BDSM or have a question regarding their sexual relationships, for clients looking for information about their spiritual journey I like to use Thoth, and for business questions I often use Tarot of the Old Path. At times, I’ll use 2 decks such as a tarot deck and an oracle deck from which I will draw a card to guide the energy of the reading.
This is also the time when I make it clear that I will be busy for the next hour for the actual reading.

Setting up for the reading

I message Damon to let him know I won’t be answering the phone then I turn the phone on silent. I turn off all distractions like tv and computer though I might turn on some low music depending on my mood. I also schedule these readings during a time of the day when I’m least likely to be interrupted by any visitors like the land lady or delivery men or Jehovahs Witnesses, hah!

I lay out the reading cloth with the crystals in the corner, set out my cards (and pendulum if used), make sure my tea/water as well as my notebook and pen are near at hand and light my candle/incense.

Beginning with Prayer

My divination protocol was taught to me by Galina Krasskova in her divination course and you can see a similar protocol on Raven Kaldera’s website here. Its very simple:

  • Cleanse and clear space
  • Ask for the Gates to be opened (I pray to the Norse Goddess Syn for this)
  • Ask for a blessing from a patron deity (I pray to Odin and Frigga)
  • Ask for the blessing of Diviners that have walked this road before me (witchcraft teachers, Saint Agabus, and others)
  • Ask for the blessing of my beloved Ancestors
  • Bless the client
  • Bless the tools I am using
  • Formally and ritually ask for clarity

Connecting with the Online Client

Connecting with the querent in spirit and energy begins the actual reading. Some clients are very confused about this particular part of the reading and I get more questions about this than almost anything else about tarot readings. Since the reading is done without the client present, some feel that there is no possible way for me to connect with them or for the cards to answer their questions because their energy isn’t physically present. What I would love to easily get across is that energy isn’t caged in by such boundaries as time, space, physical barriers, etc however that usually leads to a discussion bordering on Quantum Physics and I’ve yet to work out an easy answer, sorry. In the end, I just try and help them understand I can just as easy tap into a client’s reading when their half way across the world as I can if they were a foot away from me and that, no, they don’t need to touch the cards in order to have an accurate reading – in fact, many readers are very picky about not letting anyone at all touch their cards ever and yet give excellent readings each time.

A tool that really helps me in connecting with clients across long distances is angelite which is a throat chakra stone that opens up communication. The particular stone I use is also imbued with the Reiki symbol for distance connection for this particular use.

Choosing a Spread

Each question, querent, and energy dictates what spread I use for a reading. Some spreads work particularly well for business and finance situations while others work well for when querents want to focus on bringing something in particular into their lives and just need guidance as to how. Sometimes the spread will shift and change during a reading, when I feel drawn to pull another card for clarification. At other times I may be drawn by spirit to simply lay out the cards without a spread and read the situation intuitively. No matter what situation I am in or what spread I use, I always make a note of it and explain to the client why I laid out the cards in the manner that I did.

Reading the Shuffle

While shuffling the cards, I take deep breaths and focus on the client and their question. The shuffle itself can often give me clues as to how this reading will go. If the cards have a lot of friction and the shuffle feels forces, I can guess that there are some barriers that the client or the situation has up that I might have to work through when reading the cards. If the cards shuffle together smoothly and evenly, I foresee that the reading and the client’s situation will also be smooth. If the beginning of the shuffle is smooth but then there is a bump, pause, or friction later in the blending of the cards then I foresee that there will be a bump in the road ahead for the client. I make a mental note of the shuffle to mark down later, set the cards on the altar, repeat the client’s inquiry, and cut the cards.

*Did a card fall out?
Sometimes during a shuffle or even cutting and laying out the cards a card will fall out. I ALWAYS read this card in the reading. I take these random cards as messages from the Divine that need to be taken into account for the client and the entire situation.

The Tarot Layout

Laying out the cards happens pretty quickly and without incident (this was not the case when I had a cat who wanted to snuggle the altar and tarot every time I had a client reading). I lay all the cards out at once. I know some readers lay out a card at a time and read that way but I find doing this task all at once allows me to see both the big picture and the details – no forest is lost for the trees this way.

Reading the Cards

Sitting with, soaking in, and reading the cards

During this time while the cards are out, I look at the entire reading, taking the image in like a painting at a museum. The entire reading tells a story just like each individual card does. I consider what the story looks like – is it a romance or a thriller? A drama? I then go row by row, card by card and read into the details with my client and their question in mind.

I have to admit, I often talk while I do this as if the client is there, mumbling over the cards and saying things like “Oh I see here that you’ve not be sleeping well…” and them nodding as if they’ve answered back. I often think back to myself, cradling my tea, squinting at tarot cards, and muttering away that most people would think I was absolutely nuts – but I know you don’t dear client because we understand each other, right?

Taking Notes

I take notes the whole process of the reading. If anyone looked at my notes their initial idea that I might be nuts might very well be justified. My handwriting is scratchy and nearly illegible. The topic seems broken and all over the place. Short hand, symbols, and little sentences in the margins like “It’ll be in the Fall. Probably close to Thanksgiving” fill pages. These odd bits of paper and writing will transform later, after another cup of tea and a long look over the tarot table, into your reading email.

Your Reading

After I’ve digested the advice and messages of the cards, I take my notes to the computer. I begin typing up a comprehensive explanation of the reading with symbol explanations, broad stroke explanations, and, most importantly, what the cards say is in store for you and what you should do about it. This all adds up to 1000+ words that I combine with at least 2-3 photos of your reading.
Before I send out the email, I re-read it and check in with myself. It is my biggest desire to make sure each client is getting as much information and advice as I can give.
I then send out the reading with blessings and a welcome to each client to feel free to ask any questions about the cards I’ve laid out.

Follow Up

After the client receives the reading I like to do a small check in, especially if I don’t hear back from them in the next few days. I want to make sure the reading went through as it should, that the messages were understandable, and that the images were easy to view.

If the client has questions I take my time to review the reading and we work on where things might not be clear. However, if their questions range outside of the reading, we discuss either 1 or 2 more card draws for an additional charge or purchasing another reading if the topic is separate from the last one.

Lastly, after reading is received and questions are answered, I send a thank you to the client for being such a great customer.  A month or so down the road I often check in with my clients. A month is a great amount of time to have between in-depth readings. I’ve found that this gives clients enough time to really process and implement the advice of the previous reading, they are ready to take the next steps in their life and might be interested in seeing what the cards have to say now.

I also love to see how clients are doing and how my reading has benefited their lives since we last spoke. This really reminds me of why I love my job – the results.

I welcome all of our clients, and those considering becoming clients to read my Privacy Policy and the Tarot Reading page’s FAQ’s. If you have any questions, please feel free to Contact Me.
